Major Changes in Filing Fees
With the implementation of the Bankruptcy Reform Act and actions of the Judicial Conference of the United States there are significant changes to the filing fees that are now assessed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Effective September 20, 2005 the fee for filing an adversary proceeding in the United States Bankruptcy Court will increase from $150 to $250.
Effective October 17, 2005:
Chapter 7 filing fees will increase to $274 (filing fee $220 + trustee fee $15 + administrative fee $39)
Chapter 11 filing fees will increase to $1,039 (filing fee $1,000 + administrative fee $39)
Chapter 13 filing fees will decrease to $189 (filing fee $150 + administrative fee $39)
CM/ECF is going MANDATORY!!
Mandatory electronic filing in The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virgina is now in effect as of October 1st, 2005. If you have not submitted an application to become an electronic filer with our court, now is the time to do so, the earlier the better.
